The first step is to categorize your plants into groups with similar watering needs for easier organizing of the watering system. The number of drip pipes you need depends on the type of crop you plan to grow. For most crops, a good starting point is around 400 meters of drip pipe for every hectare of land. The spacing of drip pipes also depends on the crop, but a common spacing is about 60 centimeters between the lines. This ensures water reaches all the plants evenly.

It’s important to have a reliable water supply. A tank that can hold at least 5,000 liters is a good choice. This helps ensure you have enough water for irrigation throughout the day.

For crops like French beans, water is typically applied for 45 minutes to 1 hour at a time, three times a day. This schedule keeps the soil moist and supports healthy plant growth.

Fertigation means adding fertilizer to the water that flows through the drip irrigation system. This method helps plants get the nutrients they need directly at their roots, making the system even more efficient.
